Economy & Jobs

Congresswoman Emilia Strong Sykes is committed to creating an economy where everyone can succeed through good paying jobs and reducing everyday costs. She believes Congress must come together in a bipartisan way to find long-term budget solutions that invest in working families, create jobs, and support a competitive American workforce. She also believes our tax system should reward work, not just wealth, which is why she is committed to expanding the Earned Income Tax Credit and reinstating the Child Tax Credit to support families and create more opportunities for Northeast Ohioans. Congresswoman Sykes is also a proponent of strategic investments in education, workforce development, research, clean energy, and infrastructure built for the 21st century to build an economy that works for everyone. Unfortunately, too often, Congress has kicked the can down the road, setting up future fiscal crises that hurt working families. As the former Minority Leader and Ranking Member of the Ways and Means Committee in the Ohio Statehouse, she understands that our unique budget challenges require innovative and bipartisan solutions. In Washington, Congresswoman Sykes is working to bring critical funding from the bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law back home to Northeast Ohio, so we can ensure Ohio remains the heart of America’s manufacturing industry.
